The GOT-YA Machine is a creative web project designed to prompt reflection on excessive spending. The assignment required the website to feature a creative structure and to align with a specific subculture. I chose the grunge subculture because its ethos of anti-materialism and authenticity aligns with the theme of consumer reflection.
The project incorporates visual and stylistic elements drawn from grunge culture such as the flannel and denim patterns. The interface features a keypad that simulates a transaction, leading to a pop-up window offering a short description on the chosen object.
When one or two pop-up windows are created the screen is busy-but manageable. When several windows are open it becomes difficult to navigate and read the screen aligning with the idea that over consuming products can lead to difficulties along the way.
